The Change The Rules Podcast celebrates the catalyzers and rule breakers in the nonprofit and social impact communities. Each week hosts Lisa and Dan Graham lead a conversation with a guest that shows us what it really means to be innovative in business and impact.
Interviews with successful entrepreneurs, many of whom have built and sold companies, featuring lessons learned in the process and advice for others wishing to become entrepreneurs. This podcast is a product of Silicon Hills News, a six year old technology news site covering companies and people in the Austin and San Antonio technology region in Texas.
The goal of the podcast is to facilitate connections with and to learn from the successes, struggles, life experience, and wisdom of the people featured, most of whom live and create in Austin, Texas. The honest conversational flow of these weekly long form interviews lends itself to some really great insights and information that is available to anyone who wants to listen. HOST: Stacey Higginbotham
I’m Stacey Higginbotham, a journalist who has covered technology since 2001. I began covering semiconductors and worked my way up to covering radios, the wireless spectrum and broadband networks. From there it wasn’t too far a leap to cover the cloud, data centers and computing architectures. As I learned more I began to become more fascinated by the stuff were were able to do on these vast computing networks and the ever speedier mobile and wireline broadband networks. Finally, I’m in a place where my love of geeky technology has allowed me to bring together all the elements of the technology I’ve covered in more than a decade of reporting to this moment, where we’re creating the internet of things.
No matter what you call it, we’re at a pivotal moment in the evolution of human creativity, business creation and productivity gains. We could see the gains we make in these next few years help us conserve resources and let us lead safer and healthier lives or we could open the door to a dystopian society where our every thought is monitored and our every utterance is effectively for sale. I hope to explore all of these issues, the people who will make it possible and the devices that will lead us there in the IoT Podcast. I hope you will join me.
HOST(S): BRIAN BRUSHWOOD / JUSTIN ROBERT YOUNG
For almost 10 years, Brian Brushwood and Justin Robert Young have brought you the best of the worst of the internet. From BBLiveshow to NSFW, from live events at DragonCon to Nerdtacular, BB and JuRY want nothing more than to make you laugh so hard that you feel guilty and ashamed.
We've brought you Night Attack independently through Patreon for years now and the freedom it brought has made this the strongest version of the show yet. No rules, no filters, no Ad Dragon (except when we want). It's the same show you love, but supercharged and it's all thanks to your support.
You can subscribe to our RSS feed like usual, but if you want to get The Works(TM), subscribe here on Patreon to get early access to our preshows and aftershows on YouTube and RSS MP3. And $1 patrons have the chance to be featured in the Night Attack New Patreon Name Chant Corner Hour! (It's an hour of it.)
Who knows? Night Attack might even become our best-paying and most important gig. That'd be a dream come true, as our full time job would be to make you guys laugh. And that'd be pretty awesome.
HOST: Tim Ferris
Tim Ferriss is a self-experimenter and bestselling author, best known for The 4-Hour Workweek, which has been translated into 40+ languages. Newsweek calls him "the world's best human guinea pig," and The New York Times calls him "a cross between Jack Welch and a Buddhist monk." In this show, he deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, chess, pro sports, etc.), digging deep to find the tools, tactics, and tricks that listeners can use.
HOSTS: KOREY COLEMAN AND MARTIN THOMAS
GENRE: FILM REVIEWS / COMEDY
It all began with an ending. When Korey’s former website was finally shut down by its owners, a strong community demanded that he keep things going. With the encouragement of friends Martin Thomas (friends for over 20 years!) and Brian Brushwood, Korey started a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $30,000. Certain that people would scoff at such a high amount he was already making plans to leave the country. By the end of the month the campaign raised $30,000. Development on Doubletoasted.com started immediately.
At first it was just Korey and Martin doing shows together in a bedroom. As things grew they acquired more cast members and eventually could afford a studio. Years later they now have a full team and a roster of shows that entertain their audience almost every day of the week.
